Spirritz Maine Coons
Hi my name is Sharon and along with my husband, Mike, we have a small breeding cattery of Maine Coon cats.
We fell in love with this breed thirty years ago and in 1999 we welcomed Dillon into our home, he was soon followed by show neuters, Minnie and Bobert. It was a slow progression to becoming breeders, we learnt a lot through showing and meeting fellow breeders, our first litter arrived late 2004.
From the beginning breeding for health and temperament has been our main focus, we have our cats checked for HCM by a veterinary cardiologist and used dna tests from when they first became available. 20+ years later we are still testing as health and temperament are still our main focus.
Our cats, apart from the boys, live in the house with us and they have access to our enclosed garden. The boys have their own quarters a few metres from the house where although separated from the girls they can still be a part of the family.
Kittens are born in our bedroom and raised in our home, getting used to household noises, meeting our dog and other cats before leaving us weaned, litter trained, vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and registered at 15/16 weeks of age.
We have been successful at shows over the years breeding many Champions, Grand Champions, Imperial Grand Champions and an Olympian Bronze Champion also Premiers, Grand Premiers and Imperial Grand Premiers in the GCCF, also in TICA where we have had Regional Winners and Supreme Grand Champions with, hopefully, more to come in the future.
